Komatsuna with Sesame Seeds

Description

Japanese spinach seasoned in delicious sesame seeds.

Ingredients

  • 200 g komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach)
  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin (sweet cooking rice wine)
  • 1 tsp sesame seed oil

 

Instructions

  1. Boil lightly salted water, then add in the komatsuna. Once soft, place in ice water, remove and dry.
  2. Cut the komatsu into 1 cm (1/2 in) lengths from the edge and dry once again.
  3. Mash the sesame seeds in a bowl about half way, add in soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil and mix well.
  4. Add the komatsuna to the mixture and combine well before serving.
