Chocolate and Plum Cake


A tasty and moist cake for the glut of seasonal plums.


  • 175g butter
  • 175g caster sugar
  • 175g self raising flour
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 500g plums, halved and stoned


Preheat the oven at 160 degres.

Reserve 8 plum halves and chop the rest.

Cream the butter and sugar, then add the flour, baking powder, cinnamon cocoa powder and the eggs, mix till all the ingredients are incorporated.

Fold in the chopped plums.

Line a 20cm round or 18cm square tin with grease proof paper. Spoon in the mixture, level out and arrange the plum halves on top.

Bake in the oven for 1 hour, test with a skewer to check it's done.
